Pacing Races
To win the Pacing Triple Crown, a 3-year-old must score victories in the Cane Pace, Little Brown Jug, and Messenger Stakes. The oldest stakes is the Little Brown Jug, first raced in 1946. The Cane Pace (originally called the Cane Futurity) began in 1955. The Messenger started a year later.
Trotting Races
In order to win the Trotting Triple Crown, a 3-year-old must score victories in the Hambletonian, Kentucky Futurity, and Yonkers Trot. The oldest stakes is the Kentucky Futurity, which was first raced in 1893. The Hambletonian began in 1926, while the Yonkers Trot (originally called the Yonkers Futurity) was inaugurated in 1955.
